Gerald Singleton, Managing Partner of Singleton Schreiber in San Diego, was recently featured in Law.com's ongoing Class Actions: Critical Mass series (a weekly briefing for class action and mass tort attorneys) in their article, "Critical Mass With Law.com’s Amanda Bronstad: First Lawsuits Over Los Angeles Wildfires Name Edison, J&J Talc Trial in Los Angeles Delayed as Fires Rage".

The briefing which Mr. Singleton was referenced in provides an overview of the ongoing Los Angeles fires and discusses at least six lawsuits that have been filed against Southern California Edison (SCE) over the Eaton Fire, alleging that they failed to control vegetation and de-energize a transmission towner near Eaton Canyon on the night of the fire. Coverage was also provided for the recent town hall held for Eaton and Hurst fire victims by Singleton Schreiber, where Mr. Singleton predicted that hundreds of lawsuits would arise as a result of insurance companies canceling policies or not renewing coverage in certain areas in the Los Angeles area during the past 12 months.

"People who just left and were able to go back to their house when done will have compensation for when they’re out of their home: hotel rooms, replace certain items, soot and ash cleaning of their homes that needs to be done," said Mr. Schreiber. "Then people lost their homes, which will have a wide variety of damages. They’ll have insurance for some of it, but insurance has been getting canceled very aggressively, and we’re seeing a lot more clients not insured.”

The Eaton Fire has already destroyed more than 12,000 structures and resulted in 24 deaths at the time of the article's publication.
