Founding Partner Brett Schreiber was recently mentioned in a Law360 article in which he earned the 2025 Product Liability MVP award.
Brett Schreiber, Founding Partner of Singleton Schreiber LLP, earned a 2025 Law360 Product Liability MVP award after securing a landmark $329 million verdict against Tesla in a Florida Keys crash case; the first to deem Tesla’s Autopilot system defective. His interest in autonomous vehicle risks began years earlier, ultimately leading him into complex litigation over autopilot failures. In August, a jury awarded significant compensatory damages to the family of 22-year-old Naibel Benavides Leon and to her injured boyfriend, along with $200 million in punitive damages, after finding Tesla one-third responsible for the 2019 crash. Schreiber said the case signals a future in which lawyers must translate intricate data and neural-network decision-making into clear narratives for juries.
Beyond product liability, Mr. Schreiber is proud of his firm’s work in environmental justice, including wildfire litigation and a significant climate change case on behalf of Boulder, Colorado, against fossil fuel companies. He views these long-term battles as essential efforts to drive incremental change through the civil justice system.
Mr. Schreiber noted that taking on Tesla was his greatest challenge this year, requiring intense focus and trust in his team to manage other matters. Learning to relinquish control, he said, is a necessary but difficult part of legal practice. His motivation comes from rejecting the fear of failure and embracing opportunities on the other side, encouraging his team to act boldly while relying on strong professional and personal support systems.
