As It Becomes Clear Trump Will Lose His Congressional Majority, We Must Be Vigilant About Election Interference

Ryan Crosswell, Senior Counsel at Singleton Schreiber, authored an op-ed titled “As It Becomes Clear Trump Will Lose His Congressional Majority, We Must Be Vigilant About Election Interference,” published by The Philadelphia Inquirer on October 25, 2026.

Crosswell is a former prosecutor in the Department of Justice’s Public Integrity Section, which oversaw election integrity nationwide. In the op-ed, he draws on that experience to address federal oversight of elections ahead of the 2026 midterms.

The op-ed notes that the 2026 midterms will be the first federal election in decades without Public Integrity Section oversight. Crosswell outlines the safeguards in Pennsylvania’s voting process: every vote is verified against voter registration records and backed by a paper trail, voting systems are disconnected from internet-facing networks, and results are confirmed through two separate audits. He also notes that it is a federal offense for Department of Justice officials to deploy armed federal agents to a polling place.

“

Free and fair elections lie at the foundation of our democracy, and we owe it to those who have fought and died for it to protect the will of the voters.

RYAN CROSSWELL, SENIOR COUNSEL
