New Video Bolsters Claims That SoCal Edison’s Idle Line Ignited Deadly Eaton Fire

On June 10, 2026, Partner Paul Starita was featured in a KTLA report discussing newly released surveillance footage that attorneys believe provides additional evidence regarding the cause of the Eaton Fire.

The video, captured by cameras at the Gerrish Swim & Tennis Club in Pasadena, shows flashes of light near a Southern California Edison transmission tower moments before flames appeared. Attorneys representing victims allege the footage supports claims that an idle transmission line owned by Edison played a role in igniting the fire.

Starita explained how the footage appears to show an electrical arcing event that may have caused molten metal to fall into nearby vegetation, igniting it. He also addressed ongoing litigation involving Southern California Edison and efforts to secure accountability for communities impacted by the wildfire.

Southern California Edison has stated that its investigation remains ongoing and has not accepted responsibility for causing the fire. Multiple investigations and legal proceedings continue as courts, regulators, and local authorities evaluate evidence related to the fire's origin.

"It clearly shows an arching event ... and that ignited the brush below." — Paul Starita
