New Video Raises Questions About Southern California Edison’s Role in Deadly Eaton Fire

Partner Paul Starita appeared in a FOX 11 report to talk about new surveillance footage that could offer more evidence about what caused the Eaton Fire, one of the most destructive wildfires in Southern California in recent years.

The report focuses on video taken near where the fire started. Lawyers for the victims say it seems to show electrical sparks near a Southern California Edison transmission tower just before the fire began. This footage is now a key part of lawsuits over thousands of lost properties and the deaths of 19 people.

Starita, who represents the Gerrish Swim and Tennis Club and other victims, stressed the need for accountability and real help for those affected by the disaster. He also pointed out that many victims are still looking for answers as investigations and court cases continue.

The court cases are still in progress as judges review evidence about how the fire started and whether the utility company is responsible. A hearing is set for August 2026, and more proceedings are expected as victims, insurers, and investigators work to find out who is responsible and help those affected recover.

"Southern California Edison is responsible for starting a fire that killed 19 people and burned down 9,000 structures. It is clearly their responsibility, and they need to make it right." — Paul Starita
