Thousands of LA Fire Survivors Look to Join California's Lawsuit Against State Farm

Michelle Meyers, Partner at Singleton Schreiber, was featured by Straight Arrow News in an article titled "Thousands of LA Fire Survivors Look to Join California's Lawsuit Against State Farm," published on June 22, 2026.

Meyers represents Every Fire Survivor's Network (EFSN), a coalition of more than 10,000 Palisades and Eaton Fire survivors, in a petition for intervenor status in California's enforcement proceeding against State Farm General Insurance Company. If granted, EFSN would have the right to conduct discovery, present evidence, and participate in settlement discussions.

The California Department of Insurance found nearly 400 violations in State Farm fire claims, which the state says may have impacted thousands of survivors still waiting on funds to rebuild. A contractor working on the recovery told Straight Arrow News that at the current pace, permits for every destroyed home may not be issued for another four to five years.

"The Department found the violations. Survivors lived them," said Meyers. "The people who experienced the harm should not be spectators while decisions about accountability are being made."
