Overview

Srinivas “Vas” Hanumadass is a member of our Personal Injury and Wrongful Death practice group who focuses on single-event, catastrophic personal injury cases. He has earned several multimillion-dollar results for his clients.

Mr. Hanumadass started his career on the defense side before joining, and later becoming a partner at, a well-respected personal injury firm in San Diego. He also worked at a prestigious plaintiff’s firm in Los Angeles before joining Singleton Schreiber.

Recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer every year since 2017, Mr. Hanumadass actively participates as a leader in the legal community and beyond. He served two terms as president of the South Asian Bar Association of San Diego, one term as vice president of the San Diego County Bar Association, and was the past Scholarship Committee chair of the Lawyers Club of San Diego, whose mission is to promote women in the law and society. Mr. Hanumadass is a current board member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and an active member in the American Association for Justice. He is one of the select few attorneys chosen to participate in the Leadership Academies of both organizations.

In 2018, Mr. Hanumadass received the “Outstanding Service to Community Award” from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law Alumni Association. He is admitted to practice in the state of California.

Mr. Hanumadass is honored each and every time a client asks him to be their voice and takes that moral and legal responsibility seriously. He believes in the adages of his high school cross-country coach, Mr. Newton, who taught him that “While it’s nice to be great, it’s great to be nice” and “The greatest thing in life is not in never having fallen, but in rising up again.” Pursuing justice on behalf of his clients and living up to Mr. Newton’s beliefs gives him a driving sense of purpose to do his very best.

In his free time, Mr. Hanumadass enjoys attending live music concerts, the theatre, and variety performances. A born and bred Chicagoan, he is a devoted fan of his hometown sports teams and his college team, the Wisconsin Badgers.

Case Results

  • A federal jury in Florida has ordered Tesla to pay $243 million in damages over a 2019 crash involving its Autopilot system. Brett Schreiber, Partner at Singleton Schreiber and lead counsel for the plaintiffs, emphasized Tesla’s negligence, stating, “Tesla designed Autopilot only for controlled access highways yet deliberately chose not to restrict drivers from using it elsewhere… Today’s verdict represents justice for Naibel’s tragic death and Dillon’s lifelong injuries.” This marks the first time the company has been held liable in a wrongful death trial related to its driver-assist technology. The crash killed Naibel Benavides Leon and left Dillon Angulo with permanent injuries. The ruling could have sweeping implications for future litigation and the broader autonomous vehicle industry.

  • Singleton Schreiber secured a $600,000 settlement on behalf of a client who was severely injured at a local gym. While walking toward his favorite treadmill, another patron on a Stairmaster, moving with momentum and without looking behind him, crashed into our client. The impact caused our client to fall, breaking his hip and wrist, both of which required emergency surgery. Despite the gym initially downplaying its responsibility, the medical and liability evidence was compelling, and the defense agreed to settle the full amount before trial.
