Attorney Comments on Lawsuits Filed Against Homewood Spa Over Alleged Sexual Assaults

Blake Milner, Senior Counsel at Singleton Schreiber, commented on civil lawsuits filed in Jefferson County Circuit Court against a Homewood massage therapist and Escape Day Spa over alleged sexual assaults, as featured by ABC NEWS 33/40 on August 4, 2026.

Milner represents one of three women alleging they were sexually assaulted during massage appointments at the spa. According to the complaints, the spa continued to employ the therapist and assign him to clients despite prior complaints and knowledge that his massage therapy license had expired. The lawsuits allege the spa failed to properly hire, supervise, and monitor the employee and failed to take appropriate action after receiving reports of misconduct.

The allegations span from July 2025 through June 2026. The therapist was arrested in July and charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. Milner addressed the pattern of negligence in his statement: "There were multiple instances where [...] was assigned as the massage therapist when the business knew that he had been alleged to have committed inappropriate behavior during massages. You have multiple instances the business knew about and could have stopped giving contact between Jones and the customers that were visiting the massage."
